More Creative Circus Alumni Awards, Honors, and Achievements

I'm excited to share more outstanding achievements from some of our recent graduates, alumni who graduated within the last few years. If you haven't already, connect to us on Facebook and Twitter, where we will be highlighting even more work and news from the school. Also join the Facebook Alumni Group, exclusive to alumni, faculty and staff, where only those things relative to them will be posted and invites to alumni reunions, etc. will be broadcast. We currently have a job site on an alumni network, also exclusive to alumni, faculty and staff. Like proud parents - or maybe aunts and uncles - we love to hear about your success, so if you want your work to be considered for posting, send us your name, your award or achievement, link to your website, and your Twitter handle if you have one. And thanks for sharing!

Katy Graham, who graduated in late 2008, managed to get herself promoted to Senior Copywriter at CP+B this February, within two years of graduating! She works on the Old Navy account, among others.

While at Mullen in Boston, Justin Bajan won 7 silver Hatch Awards, and he and his partner were named top junior team in the 49th Annual Hatch Award Show. He is now at David & Goliath.

Alumnus, Andy Pearson was promoted to ACD at CP+B, where he has been working since graduating in late 2008. Congrats Andy!

Liza Behles pulled a Cannes Part Deux in summer of 2009 by representing the Cannes Young Lion USA Cyber Team one year after winning a Cannes Future Lion while at the Creative Circus. Liza is now an interactive copywriter at Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

A spot Tricia Desjardin did for American Airlines just started airing. check it out http://ow.ly/1tOdV

She has been involved in an Anti-Sex Trafficking Shelter in Thailand for the last 6 months and she visited the shelter on her recent trip. Lorrie is now also involved with a group in Myanmar on anti-sex trafficking in a consultative role. She is working on getting the images from all her shooting up on her website. We'll be sure to pass that along when we get it from her!

ACD from AKQA gives creative advice

I received a message today via facebook from Steve Tornello, Creative Circus alumnus and ACD at AKQA in San Francisco. It's advice to young creatives well worth sharing, and the posting he shared is fun too.

This is something i harp on with my teams. I think it's essential to have artistic interests outside of advertising, mainly because advertising is really moving away from traditional forms and into many other different expressions. Which means that someone who purely loves advertising and only advertising might not have the best skillset moving forward.

So I always encourage students and creatives to find different outlets to express yourself, whether it be what you do best or what you don't do well at all.

And if I didn't do some of that myself, I would be a hypocrite.

That being said, here's some horoscopes I wrote that just got published by divinecaroline.com. That's a website for women. I am a man. So it's a challenge. Whether or not I succeeded is somewhat irrelevant. But I'm a better writer for going through the process.

hope all is well.
