Forty-eight Creative Circus students and graduates will be in New York City for this year's One Show Festival, portfolio reivews, and One Club sponsored agency tours. Since we were going to be in the city I requested agency tours just for our own Circus folks, with Droga 5, Strawberry Frog, Digitas, TAXI, and Pentagram. And they graciously agreed. A big thanks to all those who helped make this happen. There is a lot of talent in this big bunch of hungry young creatives. Check out their websites here. And if there's anyone you want to see, give me a shout and I'll do my best to arrange it. Happy One Show Festival and Creative Week!

ACD from AKQA gives creative advice
I received a message today via facebook from Steve Tornello, Creative Circus alumnus and ACD at AKQA in San Francisco. It's advice to young creatives well worth sharing, and the posting he shared is fun too.
This is something i harp on with my teams. I think it's essential to have artistic interests outside of advertising, mainly because advertising is really moving away from traditional forms and into many other different expressions. Which means that someone who purely loves advertising and only advertising might not have the best skillset moving forward.
So I always encourage students and creatives to find different outlets to express yourself, whether it be what you do best or what you don't do well at all.
And if I didn't do some of that myself, I would be a hypocrite.
That being said, here's some horoscopes I wrote that just got published by divinecaroline.com. That's a website for women. I am a man. So it's a challenge. Whether or not I succeeded is somewhat irrelevant. But I'm a better writer for going through the process.

hope all is well.

Ideas Can Take You Places: Six Ad Students’ Quest To London
The Creative Circus is known for cultivating students with big ideas. Now, six of those students are using their big ideas to travel to London. The Circus teams are two of only six teams to be nominated for D&AD Pencils from the U.S. They’ve been invited to the ceremony at Kings Place on July 2, 2009 to accept their awards. However, the Circus kids are faced with the creative challenge of raising enough money to go. Not ones to let an opportunity pass, the teams have put together a fundraising website, called thelondonproject.com. Agencies or individuals who sponsor their trip will receive a creative promotion courtesy of the students’ daring personae (“Want to see your logo on a blow-up whale outside Big Ben?”) Anything goes as the agencies have the opportunity to name any scenario in which the students are to promote them. Check out their super-ultra-cute video here.
